Plant small pieces close together in a rich soil substrate with open light from above. Without good light and CO2 it grows tall and loose and can lift off the bottom, so trim it flat once it is thick.

What it does for your tank

A bright green lawn in the foreground that shrimp love to pick through.

Fish that eat or uproot it

Digging fish and goldfish uproot it; most small community fish leave it alone.

Growing more

Pull apart small clumps or replant trimmings and they spread as a carpet.

Grows well with

Same light and temperature, but a different spot in the tank, so they fill it out together.
